Three Amazing Day Trips from Dallas
Texas is the second largest state in the country, just behind Alaska, and everyone knows how Texans like to do everything BIG! One of the things we do best is share our Texas pride with anyone who will ask. If you’re looking to explore this beautiful state of ours, grab a friend and pack some snacks for a road trip and explore these lesser know hot spots for a quick day trip!
An hour and a half from The Principal, you’ll arrive in the beautiful city of Tyler, Texas. Most tourists venture to Tyler for the beautiful state parks. But in Tyler, the real star of the show is the Rose Garden. This 14-acre garden blooms between spring through October. With over 40,000 rose bushes, this the perfect place to take family photos or get that perfect shot for your new profile picture.
Less than two hours from The Principal, you’ll find the outdoors man’s (or woman’s) dream! Lake Whitney offers more than the usual park activities – it’s one of the few places in North Texas where you can get your adrenaline fix by scuba diving in addition to hiking, biking and swimming. For those that want to the full camping experience, you can visit any of the four state park locations – Cleburne State Park, Meridian State Park, Dinosaur Valley State Park and Mother Neff State Park.
If you haven’t been to Waco lately, you’re missing out! Just as the famous television show “Fixer Upper” rose to fame, so did this little Texas town. In addition to Chip & Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Market, you can visit the Dr. Pepper Museum. This cute museum is located inside of a bottling plant from 1906 and each person gets a free Dr. Pepper with admission! If you love museums, you’ll also find the Texas Sports Hall of Fame and the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum.
