East Dallas Taco Tour

Tacos are basically a food group in Texas. For that reason, we have pulled together a list of the most mouthwatering tacos in East Dallas. Your Taco Tuesday will never be the same. Here are the five that top our list!

1. Tacos la Banqueta Puro DF

Not only can you walk to this location in less than 10 minutes, but tacos are only $1.50 each (although we recommend that you get three!). This is the most authentic Mexican food that you can find outside of Mexico City. There’s no need for fancy sauces or lots of cheese, these tacos are so good you don’t need it!  No matter when you go, there will be a line, but don’t let that deter you from tasting this heavenly goodness!

2. Aca Las Tortas.

Not only is this restaurant our next-door neighbor, but the staff is so friendly, you’ll leave feeling like family. Unlike Tacos la Banqueta Puro DF, this restaurant has indoor seating if you need to get out of the Texas heat. Your check will be small, but the portions are enormous. You have our word: You’ll never leave this spot hungry!

3. Taqueria La Pasadita.

If you blink, you may miss this one – it’s located inside a convenience store without the best signage. We recommend calling in your order ahead of time to beat the rush and bring cash.  Not to worry – you can get an entire meal with the change that you find in your couch.  You can feed an entire family for less than $10.  Their tacos are incredible, but they’re known for their pupusas.

4. Las Huastecas #2.

Five stars on Yelp doesn’t lie. This Father-Son operation has the best $1 tacos you can find. They make their own sauces and regulars rave about the Trompo Taco. This one is a must try for any taco enthusiast!

5. La Nueva Fresh & Hot Tortilleria.

It may not the most glamourous on the list and it’s not technically in East Dallas, but it’s so good we just couldn’t leave it off of this list. If you make the drive, your taste buds will thank you for visiting this hidden gem.  The first La Nueva opened in 1968, which has now grown to six locations. They have the freshest tortillas you’ll find, which also comes with a line. Trust us – it’s worth the wait!

Mmmmm tacos.
